Ain Shams University (Egypt) Announced as the First Egyptian University to obtain Five Stars in QS International Ranking
The QS Organization for International Ranking of Universities has announced that Ain Shams University, Egypt, has obtained Five Stars (out of five) in QS international ranking. The first Egyptian university to obtain this ranking, Ain Shams University has succeeded to meet all the criteria upon which the evaluation is based. In his word to the University Council, Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, congratulated Vice Presidents, Deans, Professors, administrators, students and the whole of the ASU community and affiliates on this outstanding achievement. President El Meteini highlighted that the three university sectors, Student Affairs, Scientific Research and Community Development together with the newly established sector of International Relations, have closely collaborated to implement international quality measures, enabling ASU to progress from Three Stars in 2015 to Four Stars in 2018, and finally Five Stars in 2021. Furthermore, both the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Pharmacy have been announced as the first faculties in the Arab Region to receive Five Stars ranking, earning further regional and international recognition.
Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President of ASU for Education and Students Affairs and the general supervisor of the university international ranking file since 2013, expressed his immense happiness with this challenging achievement which comes in accordance with the university’s vision to improve student education, research methodology and social impact through implementing advanced international strategies and establishing new degrees in cooperation with distinguished international universities. The outcome is competent and competitive calibres at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Dr Ashwin Fernandez, the Regional Director of the QS Organization in the Middle East and Africa, addressed the President, Council and ASU community, congratulating them on their international recognition, clarifying that ASU was rated by the QS Intelligence Unit as “EXCELLENT” in all seven criteria of assessment: Teaching, Employability, Internationalisation, Academic Development, Online Learning, Social Responsibility and Inclusiveness, achieving Five Stars in each.
